POLETTI FERRARA GIOVANNI ANGELO

Profesor Auxiliar, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH). Director del Laboratorio de Bioquímica de Membranas y co-Director del Laboratorio de Neurobiología Molecular y Genética (Laboratorios de Investigación y Desarrollo, UPCH). Tiene formación académica básica en biología, bioquímica y biología molecular. Ha seguido cursos de educación continua en el Centro Internacional de Física Teórica (Italia) en el área de neurociencias, y ha realizado pasantías de investigación en el área de bioquímica de las membranas biológicas en la Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina). Ha colaborado en la estructuración y participa en el dictado de cursos de pregrado y postgrado en el área de neurobiología, neuroquímica y biología de membranas en la UPCH. Ha colaborado en una serie de proyectos de investigación en el área de biología de los trastornos mentales, y la promoción de investigación en ésta área. Además, viene colaborando en esfuerzos internacionales para el estudio de la variación genética humana (Proyecto 1000 Genomas, www.1000genomes.org) y la genética del mestizaje en América Latina (Proyecto CANDELA, IP: A. Ruiz-Linares, University College London, www.ucl.ac.uk/candela), la genética de la Demencia de Inicio Temprano (IP: M. Grossman / K. Rascovsky, University of Pennsylvania) y la genética de la Esquizofrenia (IP: G. de Erausquin, University of South Florida). Recientemente ha tenido la oportunidad de liderar un proyecto de investigación y desarrollo para la industria agrícola del Perú utilizando su experiencia en el área de interacción molecular, obteniendo resultados promisorios. Tiene amplia experiencia en métodos analíticos, entre ellos el análisis de sustancias tóxicas y el monitoreo de drogas. Ha sido consultor para la industria farmacéutica, la industria alimentaria y en el área de bioquímica clínica.
