HORNA RODRIGUEZ DE ZIMMERMANN JULIA VIVIANA

Coordinadora científica del projecto de la Torre Alta de la Amazonía (ATTO) e investigadora asociada del Jardín Botánico de Bayreuth, con amplia experiencia en estudios de ecología de ecosistemas tropicales. Su investigación se enfoca en el estudio de los ciclos de agua y carbono de bosques templados y tropicales y los factores bióticos (hábitat) y abióticos (clima) que los controlan. En su trabajo, el enfoque inicial es a nivel de individuo y usando información de estructura y composición florística, extrapola esta información al nivel de ecosistema para definir patrones de funcionamiento ecológico de diferentes grupos de vegetación. Algunos temas de sus proyectos incluyen: -Emisiones de carbono de la vegetación de bosque montano a lo largo de una gradiente altitudinal en sur de Ecuador, así como el efecto de fertilización del suelo (financiado por la Fundación Científica Alemana DGF). -Efectos de la diversidad arbórea en el consumo de agua por un bosque templado latifoliado en el Centro de Alemania (financiado por la Fundación Científica Alemana DGF) - Cambios en los patrones de uso de agua de un bosque montano en Sulawesi, Indonesia, bajo manipulación del nivel de precipitación (financiado por la Fundación Científica Alemana DGF). - Productividad de un plantación de corta rotación de Populus sp. Para uso comercial en Alemania (financiado por el Estado de Saxonia Baja en Alemania) Los resultados de los trabajos de investigación de V. Horna han sido publicados en revistas científicas internacionales.

Proyectos de investigación Ecological Vegetation and Carbon Transect – Sira (Carbo-Sira) Current climate change (CC) is about one hundred times faster than during the last post-Pleistocene. The consequences will be an increase of spatial and temporal rainfall variability. The Peruvian forests possess a high diversity in tree species with up to 300 tree species per hectare, like in the Reserva Comunal El Sira. This richness represents a high potential for the forest sector, for carbon storage, for the landscape water balance and consequently for the mitigation of greenhouse gases.
