Dr. Lossio-Ventura has expertise and research experience in the areas of natural language processing, machine learning, and Semantic Web knowledge bases applied to health and medicine. Antonio Lossio-Ventura works as Research Scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. He is part of the Machine Learning Team at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Antonio Lossio-Ventura worked on Biomedical Informatics at the Department of Medicine, Stanford University, USA. He previously worked at the College of Medicine, University of Florida, USA. He got his PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier, France. He also worked at Xerox Research Centre Europe (now NAVER LABS Europe), Bell Labs Alcatel Lucent (now Nokia), France Telecom Orange, among others. He is also committed to the development of computer science in South America, especially in Peru. Thus, in 2014 he cofounded SIMBig, the International Conference on Information Management and Big Data (https://simbig.org/). SIMBig has been positioning itself as one of the most important conferences in South America on topics related to data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, natural language processing, semantic Web, biomedical NLP, health informatics, among others.
