SHEEN CORTAVARRIA PATRICIA

Bióloga, Doctorado en Control de Enfermedades por Johns Hopkins University, MSc.Bioquímica por la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia y BSc. Bioquímica por la Universidad Ricardo Palma. Actualmente, se desempeña como Coordinadora del Laboratorio de Investigación en Enfermedades Infecciosas (LID) de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH). Ha desarrollado proyectos aprobados por CONCYTEC, como son: Diagnóstico de tuberculosis pulmonar y pleural mediante PCR en heces y líquido pleural, Desarrollo de una software para el diagnóstico de parásitos intestinales y un sistema WEB experto, entre otros. El grupo de investigación la cual lidera junto con el PhD Mirko Zimic tiene como línea de investigación comprender el mecanismo de resistencia a Pirazinamida en Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Towards tuberculosis control: pyrazinamide susceptibility and resistant mechanism Se evaluó la técnica de Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism (SSCP), una prueba basada en ADN, para determinar la susceptibilidad de PZA MTB directamente a partir de muestras de esputo de los pacientes. Se determinó la asociación entre las mutaciones en el gen pncA, y la actividad PZase, en busca de los más probables "puntos calientes" en el gen de pncA de cepas resistentes a PZA. Unraveling the resistance mechanism of pyrazinamide, the unique-sterilizing drug against tuberculosis Estudiar el mecanismo molecular de PZA-resistencia, e identificar nuevas moléculas y procesos involucrados. Estudiar el efecto de una metalochaperone en la activación de la pirazinamidasa . Identificar el gen que codifica a la bomba de flujo del acido pirazinoico. Por último, la hipótesis de que bajas concentraciones de POA podría ser detectado mediante un inmunoensayo que se traducirá en una prueba muy sensible y rápido para la detección de PZA-resistencia.
